  • We Want Strong U.S. Leadership to Achieve a Just and Lasting Peace!

On September 22, President Obama held a tri-lateral meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Mahmoud Abbas in order to lay the groundwork for the resumption of negotiations and to create a positive context for these negotiations to succeed. In response to this effort, Christian leaders from a variety of traditions, along with a diverse group of ethnic and religious leaders, issued a statement of priciples supporting strong U.S. leadership to acheive a negotiated, sustainable resolution to the conflict.

  • Tell Obama American Christians Support Strong U.S. Action on Middle East Peace

At the much anticipated White House meeting Monday between President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Obama strongly affirmed the two-state solution and called on all parties -- Israel, the Palestinians and the Arab States – to take action in pursuit of peace, including his focus on the need for settlements to stop and for progress to made on the Gaza humanitarian situation.

Send an email to President Obama.  Let him know that American Christians support robust U.S. diplomacy to establish a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel and foster a more peaceful and secure Middle East.

  • Tell Your Senators NOT to Sign the Bayh-Risch Letter

Senators Bayh and Risch are asking other senators to join them in signing a letter to President Obama that urges Arab states to make “dramatic gestures toward Israel” but does not mention any obligation of Israel to stop the expansion of settlements in Palestinian territories.

Please use the form below to tell your Senators NOT to sign the Bayh-Risch letter, unless it is amended! Let your Senators know you support the President’s efforts to take a balanced approach toward Israeli-Palestinian peace.

  • Now is a Critical Time! Tell Your Congressman to Support the President.

House Majority Leader Hoyer and House Minority Whip Cantor have made statements recently that hinder President Obama’s efforts to jump start the peace process. Both the Democratic and Republican congressional leaders made similar accusations that the President is mistaken for paying too much attention to settlements.

Please use the form below to tell your Congressman that you stand with the President and support his efforts to create the right context for serious negotiations.
  • Oppose H.Res 867

Support Transparency & Accountability! Tell your Member of Congress to Oppose H.Res 867

Assistant Secretary of State Michael Posner has said that Israel should “investigate and address all credible allegations of misconduct or violations of international law” related to Israel’s conduct in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. Last week, the Department of State said that they had “serious concerns about what happened in Gaza.” Yet, a new resolution, H. Res. 867, directly challenges this U.S. position and irresponsibly suggests that the President and Sec. of State “oppose unequivocally any endorsement or further consideration of the ‘Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict’…”

Both Israelis and Palestinians need to launch independent investigations to address the claims of civilians on both sides. H. Res. 867 lends no support to calls for credible, impartial, and comprehensive investigations so both Israeli and Palestinian civilians can have their claims of misconduct heard and addressed.

Please use the form below to tell your representative that Israelis and Palestinians have a right to answers about conduct during Operation Cast Lead. Tell your Member of Congress to OPPOSE H. Res. 867 because it irresponsibly recommends less transparency and accountability of credible allegations of misconduct.

    Fight Impunity, Support Accountability!

Contact your Representative and Hold Them Accountable for Their Vote!

Congress may have voted to pass H. Res. 867 and to ignore the findings in the Goldstone Report, but we will not be silent about our disapproval! The ratification of this resolution demonstrates that we need more people like you to contact your Representative to tell them that both Israelis and Palestinians deserve the right to peace and security. CMEP and courageous Members of Congress that voted against this resolution need your support because a lot is at stake!

Congressman Baird (D-WA-3rd) articulates it best in a statement he has on his website. He says, “At the end of the day, this is also about our own domestic security. If we are seen internationally as condoning violations of human rights and international law, if our money and our weaponry play a leading role in those violations, and if we reflexively obstruct the findings of someone with the credentials, history and integrity of Justice Goldstone, it can only diminish our international standing and our own security.”

Please use the form below to hold your Representative accountable for their vote on H. Res. 867.

Tell Your Rep. the U.S. Must Meet the Needs of Civilians in Gaza & Ensure the Security Needs of Israel are Addressed

Please take a minute to help bring peace to the Holy Land! Severe restrictions at Gaza’s borders create a dire situation for civilians, strengthen Hamas through the tunnel economy, and make it more difficult for the U.S. to restart negotiations and guide Israelis and Palestinians to peace.

Contact your Representative and ask them to sign the McDermott-Ellison letter to President Obama that urges him to improve conditions in Gaza because the status quo is counter to U.S., Israeli, and Palestinians interests for peace and security.

Please use the form below to tell your congressperson that...

  • Access to Higher Education for Gazan Students is Vital for Prosperity, Stability and Peace in the Holy Land

The near-total ban on travel from Gaza to the West Bank is counterproductive to U.S. interests and the goal of a just and lasting peace in the Holy Land. Encourage your Member of Congress to invest in the future of young Gazans who want to better themselves and their society.

Ask your Representative to sign the Inglis-Moran letter to Secretary of State Clinton because access to higher education for Gaza residents will undercut extremism and strengthen the voice of moderate Palestinians that want to live side by side in peace with Israel.

Thank Your Representative for Calling for Improved Conditions in Gaza

Let Your Representative Know you Support their Leadership on the Gaza Crisis

The one year anniversary of military operations in Gaza has just passed. The situation on the ground is dire for Gaza’s residents and antithetical to Israel’s security.

Damage to buildings, homes and other critical infrastructure has not been repaired because reconstruction materials are prohibited from entering Gaza. Additionally, the complete prohibition of exports has collapsed the local economy and contributed to high rates of unemployment. Without adequate housing, without work, and without hope Gaza’s residents are becoming more desperate to make ends meet.

As an advocate for peace and justice in the Holy Land it is important that you reinforce good deeds in Congress that promote security for Israelis and Palestinians.

Please use the form below to tell your Representative that you support their call for improved conditions for the residents of Gaza.
